Compact but plenty of power.
Great size with plenty of torque. I particularly like the feature where the hammer, drill and screw modes are on a separate dial to the torque settings. It is nicely balanced with battery inserted. Makita tools are always good quality....I have 30 yrs experience servicing and using them. This drill is compact despite having power to spare. It's a little heavy, due to the alloy gearbox housing, but not as heavy as the 481. I have pushed it hard drilling through timber with a 50mm hole saw in high gear...it didn't heat up.
