As an historian and scholar, my enjoyment of the All Souls Trilogy should have been based on its very rich historical detail, as well as the evocative handling of Oxford and the academic environment. Actually, though (and while I savored the accuracy and scope of Harkness' settings), it was the story itself that kept my interest from start to finish. Within the fantastic world of vampires, witches, and demons, the characters' humanity is preserved, while their actions are dictated, in the final analysis, by relatable human traits such as love, jealousy, power lust, and an informing sense of curiosity about what they (we) are and how we (they) came to be.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
