Author Biography
Robert Herman, (born in Brooklyn, NY, 1955) completed his education at New York University and the School of Visual Arts. His work has been widely recognized: He is a winner of the PX3 Prix de la Photographie Peoples Choice Award, the Alitalia per Larte Rome Prize, and was selected as one Artists Wanted/Exposure Top Fifty. His iPhone/Hipstamatic photography was shortlisted for the International Street Photography Award at the London Festival of Photography and won an Honorable Mention in the Fotovisura Grant competition. His work is held in major collections, including the George Eastman House, and the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA. Internationally, his work has been included in an exhibition at the Istanbul Photography Museum and he was honored with a solo exhibition of A Waking Dream, at the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena, Colombia. His first book, The New Yorkers, a collection of photographs of New York City, shot between 1978-2005 on Kodachrome, was published to great critical acclaim in 2013 and is now in its second printing.
