Hot damn where have you been hiding? Call me out of the loop, but I didn't know until very recently that Sony even made media players along the lines of an "MP3 player". Having been a faithful user of iRiver media players from years past, I've come to appreciate the heftiness of a dedicated music player. What better way to enter the fray than with an update of the beloved Walkman cassette/CD players of decades past? The A-17 is a true beauty. It is super light and thin, weighing close to nothing. The sound quality is superb and features some deep customization to allow tweaking of output. The menu and navigation system are clear-cut and direct (A directional pad is the name of the game, no inaccurate touch screen to lament here.) The screen is small but sharp, providing an adequate but not overt visual experience. On top of all that, the A-17 has massive storage potential, with 64 GB built-in along with another 64 via microSD card. And yes, the battery life is good enough to handle even a very long road trip in the car. There's so much more I could say about why I love the A-17, but then I'd have to write an essay for real. Apparently Sony discontinued the A-17 along with other similar models, and if true, was likely due to the dominance of the smart phone over all things mobile. If you are a music lover who can appreciate a dedicated device and all it has to offer over a "jack of all trades" smart phone, snatch one of these up while you can. I'm glad I didRead full review

I can't sing this products praises enough! Super compact and light, unlike bulky iPods, this device does the job with amazing sound quality. It's super simple to transfer music from my Mac...literally a drag and drop situation with zero fuss. It also stores photos and video. The screen is a bit small, but that's no issue as it delivers in storage space and sound quality. Once albums are added, it automatically sorts them, so don't be frazzled if while adding your music it's out of order on your computer. Simply amazing if you're a runner who doesn't want a musical weight or a commuter that wants to tune out the traffic: either way it gets the job done!

This is my 5th Walkman MP3 player. I still have all the others and they continue to work fine. I bought this one because of its large music capacity (64 GB on board memory). The memory is expandable up to 128 GB with a SIM card. It is Bluetooth capable so I can use it to play music, books or podcasts on my car radio without having to plug it in. Like all the others Walkmans I own, its tough. I've dropped it on the floor with no observable damage. The music sounds great and it's easy (for me) to use. The battery life is long. I charge it infrequently. It cost me $300. I think It's a bit expensive but it's worth it. I would buy it again if I lost it. I carry it all the time. Thanks,

I have newer Sony Walkmans , with touch screen, very hard to navigate. This model is great , with its navigation buttons, easy for 72 year old to use. Great Hi- Res sound. I don't use the bluetooth, I use wired Bose headset. Wish Sony would bring this model back. I thank the vender for providing this item on Ebay.

I have the Apple iPod for many years, but I'm always going back to the Sony Walkman (I've had three so far now) because of there superior sound on studio headphones. The A17 model is no exception, especially with the HD playback capability! The ability to adjust the playback with an equalizer is a great feature that the iPods don't have (only preset settings). Additionally, the fact that this player still has the FM tuner is another feature that I like, and is also one that is becoming more and more hard to find on mobile music players. Of course, this is not for those users that want videos, but you can't go wrong if you just want the best player! This only downside that I see, is the fact that they are still using an older version of Bluetooth. This does cause periodic "skipping" when listening, but the sound is not diminished. So if you are looking for a superior sound using high definition, you should get this one!Read full review

This product is light, easy to use, and puts out a great sound. The only problem I have had was blue tooth connecting to my headphones. Otherwise it has been a great product

Music to my ears! I am so glad I bought this MP3 player. I'm able to easily download tons of Music, have the ability to customize the sound, rearrange songs, make up playlists, be able to connect my Bluetooth wireless headphones to this great device and also have the ability to add more memory to add more music!

Turns out this Walkman had a bad charging/data transfer port. I soldered 2 wires where the battery is connected then ran them outside the case. Everything else on the player seems to work fine. I just loaded music on a micro sd card using a different player then inserted into this one. It is also possible to transfer music to it via Bluetooth. Fun project. Cost was $47.00 plus shipping.

i use this for audiobooks. i like the relative simplicity and efficiency, and i didn't need to memorize a manual to use it. this is the latest of several with increasing memory. i keep adding books but so far i can't seem to fill it up. it's great.
