I installed this on a 1997 Ford E150 with a 5.7L V8. The only metal to metal contact is with the Y pipe header from the exhaust manifolds. The "thunderous drumming" inside my van is only relieved somewhat with the windows open. It especially occurs under acceleration, any kind of acceleration. At sustained speeds, when there is no load on the engine, there's less "drumming/ percussion inside my van. I can't recommend this muffler. The novelty quickly wears off. My wife will not ride in the van since she says the "drumming/percussion" hurt her ears. The annoyance is still there, even when wearing shooters ear muffs. Go ahead, do your thing, but don't say I didn't warn you. I'm sure that if police would have me rev my engine into a decibel meter, I'd surely get a citation for excessive noise. Read full review
