A well made, good size, solid, versatile Double dutch oven
Having taken the time to seal the surface properly the Dutch oven has not had any of my sourdough bread loaves stick to the surface. I love the way I can place the dough in the lid rather than having to reach in to the depths of the pan when it is stinking hot. The handles are easy to offset and provide an adequate grip in order to separate the two pieces. The size is great for so many ways of preparing food but I have only used it thus far for making bread. Multi-function cast iron cookpot; easy to use, easy care.
Bought primarily for my sourdough baking (for years have been ‘making do’ with a covered roaster), but this is such a good all-rounder. As well as bread (where I use it upside down, with ‘lid’ as base) I’ve also tested it out on a slow cook beef casserole with outstanding results, and expect to use the lid alone in lieu of a frypan on the stovetop. Lodge comes pre-seasoned, and I was skeptical about whether food would still stick, but it doesn’t ! A light oil after cleaning makes for easy maintenance.

LOVE this; have been researching and searching for a cast iron Dutch oven designed like this - the dual use of the lid as a skillet is smart and practical. I’ve always thought it a shame that you couldn’t utilise pot lids as pan too. And Lodge has a strong history of making cast iron goods. It’s used almost daily in my kitchen. There was some excess oil staining but it details all the imperfection reasons in the Lodge manufacturers booklet that it comes with, which is helpful. So wasn’t concerned at all. Disappointed quality control
Around both pot and lid rims there are visible grinding marks. In particular, the lid grinding has a spot where excessive grinding has flattened what should otherwise be a curved edge.
