Cannibal Holocaust (DVD, 1980)

About this product

Product Information

Banned in Australia since its release in the early 80s, Cannibal Holocaust was for years reviled as one of the most repugnant and morally questionable films ever made--and possibly the most horrifying ever. The plot concerns the efforts of a group of American explorers to discover the fate of a missing documentary film crew. They receive a scratchy film-reel containing the bloody truth from a tribe of tree-dwelling natives, and the reels contents make up the bulk of the film. The extremity of the violence portrayed was enough to put director Roberto Deodato in hot water with the law, and with censors who claimed it was far too realistic. A very original piece for its time which would later go on to be stolen by the writers of The Blair Witch Project, Cannibal Holocaust, although an important film in the history of cinema, stands the test of time as the most brutal film ever made. First time on DVD.

This is the second time I've viewed this movie and believe me, it didn't disappoint this time! Is it real? Did it actually happen? Who knows, but the it certainly gives the impression thet it is. Everything about the movie is so believable and realistic. The extreme violence, both sexual and physical, and cannibalism is beyond anything you are likelt to see anywhere else - if you know of any other, please let me know!! The cutting off the penis scene was worth it by itself- Great stuff and I am sure it would have been very tasty
