  • Comfortably balanced

Pros: lightweight, self adjusting headband, comfortable over ear design, balanced sound. Cons: Elastic for the self adjusting headband seems flimsy, it would have been nice to get a spare in the package. High Impedance (120 Ohms) you need an amp to get power out of it, regular phones or computer headphone audio are not powerful enough. Cannot be used in front of a mic for recording due to the open back design. This headphone is designed for mixing and mastering so dont expect any Hi Fi bass or highs from it.

  • The AKG 612s are superb, underrated headphones

The AKG 612 appears to me to be closest to the design and technology of the 700 series, but responds to concerns about the 700 series' reputed neutrality or flatness. My tastes in audio tend towards the German-Austrian makers and each has outstanding entries, but the AKG sound is my particular favorite for acoustic contemporary, jazz, opera and orchestra. I purchased the headphones to replace AKG 545s. The intensity and precision of the 612s astounded me in every genre sampled. The phones are amplified for portable use with the ES 100 amplifier which, to my non-audiophile ears, produces a deep, rich and exciting sound from high resolution files and high quality streaming audio in mp3 and aac. Jazz and baroque opera particularly shine and the precision and sound stage reveal intriguing, satisfying nuances in every performance. The negatives one hears occasionally about AKG and the 612s in particular tend to come from listeners who enjoy other musical genres. I'm sure there are more satisfying headphones for people interested in bass-heavy contemporary music and electronica. But for beautifully recorded classical, jazz and acoustic contemporary, I've never heard better. The 612s bring out details, even in familiar music, that I've never heard before.

  • Excellent alternative to other AKG headphones

I've had an Austrian K701 for years. I love those headphones mainly because of the super-wide soundstage. But it's true that they lack bass. The K612 fixes that. And the soundstage is almost as wide. The treble is lessened just the right amount so that the bass is then fuller. I now listen mostly to these, even though the build quality of the 701 is a bit better.

  • Very flat frequency response

Very very flat frequency response, some people might not like it because it lacks "warmth" but I love it (mostly jazz and classical music). It does not seem too sturdy (e.g. my v.old K701 seems much better built), we shall see. No detachable cord like the K702 has.

  • From all stand points: Quality, Fit, Comfortability and Excellent Sound Fidelity and Durability, AKG is the 'Finger Licking Product' of them all.

I have owned many of the finest quality brands headphones (I kind of collect headphones) and to say the least, I always keep coming back and end up using my AKG's. Sound quality, Fit, Weight and Comfortability wise, there is no way you can go wrong (even with the lowest priced models), when you buy an AKG. This model (K612pro) in particular, has very little difference in all aspects with the mid-high priced K712's from this same manufacturer. If you have owned, tried or auditioned any of the competing companies models, irrespective of price, and compare them to AKG's (Or this AKG in particular), you will know the difference. If you still decide to purchase any other brand's model, you will eventually end up with an AKG. Just ask the Pro's !

  • I like them

Got a good deal and they sound great. Didn’t take long to break them in, and I think they are smooth with a clean bottom and shimmering highs and mids. I

  • AKG K612

I could not be happier with my new AKG headphones.., I bought them primarily for mixing and mastering, but find they're equally great just for listening... great headphones, at a great price!
