Ojibway Native Beliefs by an Ojibway
The first publication by Basil Johnston in 1976, was replaced by others in 1990. Writing about the Ojibway religious beliefs, as told to him by elders of various Ojibway tribes; M.Johnston started his writing career in this funded publication. To the non-natives this insight into beliefs about the creation of the world, the role of man in life and the various ceremonies; show how a people become true to their beliefs. "But it is not enough to listen to or to read or to understand the truths contained in stories,... the truths must be lived out and become part of the being of the person." A message to the native reader by M.Johnston in his preface. If the owner or reader of such a book, wants to know and understand a people; this is a great insight into the WHY? and what being a good person means to natives.
