Great sound
Spent a long time deciding between Polk Audio and Klipsch. Finally decided to go for Polk after trying out a few different models of both. They’re both great brands. This compares with the Klipsch RP 280 series, but with a warmer sound of you intend to listen to a lot of music. I paired these with a Klipsch K100SW sub which is amazingly responsive at very low frequencies, and a Polk Audio CS10 Center channel. Amazing setup.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent speakers, the sound quality is much higher than the price, compare well with Klipsch RF-82 II
Amazing sound, they compare very well with our Klipsch RF-82 II Reference Series which cost much more than the Polk Monitor 70 Series II. The sound is very clear, great separation of sound and the bass is fine, no need for a sub-woofer for music as long as you use a quality receiver with at least 100 watts per channel. Excellent value
Have a bit of patience and don't judge their sound till they're broken in. Maybe 30hrs or so and mainly for the woofers. They then open up even with entry level receivers like the one I have (Marantz NR-1403). Open soundstage, good tone color and a very decent bass extension which I am sure will improve a lot more with powerful receivers. At their price level, they are hard to beat. Build quality is excellent and they punch way above their price band. I've had them for about a month and I am so glad I got them. Update 9/19: Still rocking on with the speakers I bought! They surprised me
First, they are a bit on the power hungry side so, a good high current amplifier/receiver will be able to drive them properly. Secondly, don't make any judgment calls on them before the break in period.....they "loosen up" quite a bit even after 40-50 hours of playing. For the price, I'm impressed with the sound quality although, the cabinets could be braced more. Excellent buy for impressive home theater sound.
Amazing sound quality driven by Denon 80w per channel L/R. Even when running all 7.2, these speakers sound incredible. The base is low and palpable, while the mids and highs are clear and unmuddled. What a deal at this price, and who care if they're old speakers. Not a lot has changed in this model and price range. Be sure to bi-wire these if you can't bi-amp them. Lots of debate about if this does anything or not. For these speakers, there is a clear audible difference in the mids/highs when bi wiring (assuming you only plugged in the bottom jacks). Polk monitor 70 series 2
These are very well designed speakers. I received them at a very good price point with an extra discount on top of that. New direct from Polk Audio with warranty. Delivery was beyond fast once the Xmas was over, in fact it was so fast that they came a day earlier than expected. Box was damaged with FedEx,b ut nothing was damaged inside. They are big but have a sleek design. Matched with a csia6 center and M60s2 as surrounds. All timbre matched and I couldn't be happier with the sound. Excellent speakers
Purchased them for use with 2 pairs of older Polk RT55 book shelf speakers and a Polk subwoofer. Perfect complement and they sound FANTASTIC at volume. They completed the system perfectly. The only draw back is they need a certain power level before they sound really good and that might not work for quiet listening.
