I bought a used AX53 and so far I like the camcorder. I am still experimenting with the camera and intend to try green screen video, high-speed recording (hummingbirds) and a lot of other features. The Good: It is fairly lightweight and easy to hold. When used in automatic mode, it takes remarkable videos in AVCHD and 4K modes. The zoom is smooth. Using the physical zoom button it zooms rather fast, but using the buttons on the viewing screen has a slower zoom effect. The image stabilization is very good, allowing hand help recording with a minimum of jitter. The monitor screen is bright enough to see very well and is Ok even in the brightest sunlight. The Bad: The owners manual is crap. The help guide (available on line) is a much better reference. While the owners manual says the camera accepts micro SDXC and micro SDHC cards in 4K mode, such is not the case. I recommend using only full size SD cards. As a consumer model camera, this one is very good with many features that normally are only found on professional models.Read full review

So far a very good CC. I haven't tried the 4K yet but the HD comes out great with good color and depth of field. Still's in 4x3 format only use 12mp's not 16mp. You have to be in 16x9 format to enable a still to get 16mp. The down side is they use a power cord with a brick to connect to the camera to charge the battery. I ended up buying a 3rd part charger and battery and a 3rd party hood for the lens. The only other item I had a hard time using was the zoom rocker. I had a Canon G30 and it's rocker was a lot better placed and easier to use. Over all a good buy being this was a open box item and $100 cheaper.

It has the best features in its class and highest reviewed. 20x optical zoom, 16:9 format, low light level, high ISO with relatively low noise, 24,30 and 120fps modes, and much more. I have the AX33 Sony for a couple yrs now and has been very reliable. I expect the AX53 to perform in a comparable way.

Very happy with the Sony AX53, i have only had it for 4days. But in the time i have used it the video quality / color i have been very very happy with. Stabilization the camera sticks out the most, the movement is very smooth when holding it in my hand zooming in & out. Very easy to use, feels nice in the hand, solid. If i had to complain about anything it would be the strap, I have big hands and the strap is just velcro, i worry that it might come undone and it might fall. The S.D. card that comes with this bundle doesn't support 4k, little disappointed here but this doesn't have anything to do with Camcorder it self. This was a great buy, i would of been more than fine speading another $15 upgrading the S.D. card. Would buy again
