Great book to gift
This book has the most detailed watercolor pictures and calligraphy. The whole book is hand written. The artist is self taught, and it is beautiful. The story dwells on how to mend a broken heart in Martha's Vineyard, and pull yourself together to start a new career. Her descriptions take me back to the one time I was lucky enough to vacation on the island. I recommend it for anyone who might like a truly different and inspiring book. Martha's Vineyard Isle of Dreams is another enchanting book by Susan that you don't want to put down until you are finished and ...... when you are finished you just want to go back again and again to reread all of your favorite parts which is pretty much the whole book! She loves her family animals and nature and they are part of the book with adorable illustrations in a unique compelling tale that only someone as talented as Susan can make you feel that you are at Martha's Vineyard with her. Susan is a survivor and one strong woman, who began anew a little later in life, and made her own way!
I was inspired by Martha's Vineyard, Isle of Dreams, the latest of Susan Branch's books. Yes, it's beautiful and the illustrations are divine, as usual, but what sets this book high above is the story line of how she left all that was familiar behind after a heart wrenching divorce and began a new life in a place she'd only visited once. She had advantages and help from her former spouse that some woman never see, but she triumphed over inevitable loneliness and depression that heartbreak brings, and began a new very successful life all on her own as an artist, cook and author!
