We purchased a new car in Nov and were hoping to get one with a GPS but the one we found and liked was only a base model and alas no GPS. Decided to purchase a Garmin Nuvi 65LMT 6 inch GPS with Lifetime Maps and Traffic Updates for my wife for Christmas. She loves it although she sometimes knows a better local route and the system tries to get her back on their route believing that she missed a turn rather than recalculating. She really does not need it for local travel but wanted to familiarize herself with it before using in unfamiliar territory. She is generally very happy with it and the 6 inch screen is easy to glance at while driving.

I'm 68 years old and have been using computers for fifteen years. This item does not program like a computer does, very confusing. Also it does not have all places programed into it. I wanted to go to an Indian casino, the name of the reservation was not found, neither was the the town it was in.

Having had one of the original Garmins that was dependable as night and day, I purchased this unit with hopes that it would be a seamless replacement...and it was! Although gone is the ability to speak to the unit, it shares what street is next and provides gas stations and eating places as well. At times, it will signal when a school zone is approaching...but not all the time. Since it was refurbished, for the price, size and ease of use, I'd give it a great four stars. I would recommend this unit to a friend!

I have used the nuvi line for 10 years and love it's simplicity and ease of use. There is one disappointment that cost it 1 star. In the older units you could put up to 3 different data items on the display at one time (time of day, direction of travel, altitude, ETA etc.). Now, you can still put up any of these data items but you can only put up one at a time. This seems counter-intuitive since the screen is 1" larger and could hold more than 3 data items. Now I have to choose between time-of-day ( which I always want on the screen) and all the other data items. When I'm not navigating I want direction-of-travel and possibly altitude as I live in a mountainous area. When I am navigating I like ETA displayed but then I lose time-of-day. What was Garmin thinking?

It was a gift for someone who is not very tech savy and was very impressed with the simplicity of the device. Now just because it is simple does not mean for a second that it does not have great features, quite the opposite. The MP3 player is an amazing smart addition to the Navi, and easy connection to your car stereo, or even your home stereo. Basically just like an Ipod. Garmin has made it very easy to nanvigate through the device, intact the ONLY difficulty that I ran into was trying ti figure out how to change the voice prompter. Not an issue though considering that many other navis dont even offer alternate voice prompters. Garmin has also made it easy for any one to travel the world with this navi in hand.
