I have used Logitech Trackball's for many years and have always been pleased with them. I have worn out at least four of them. After a few years the plastic parts under the buttons become worn and the buttons don't work right. I won't know about this new model for a few years (hopefully), but it does have some great upgrades. The new USB dongle receiver is very small and unobtrusive. They have also included a couple of extra buttons for "forward" and "back" on the browser... very handy. I have always loved the ergonomic design of these trackballs. They are very comfortable to use. Though the footprint might be a little larger than a standard wired mouse, the fact that it can be in a stationary position or held in your lap, makes it a much more versatile tool. I love controlling the cursor location with my thumb. It just seems more natural than other types of trackballs. Finally, I like the new colors better than the old model.Read full review

Sadly, I'm addicted to this style mouse. I used the wired version of this one for many years before they stopped making it. This is the second one of these type that I've had. I'm not quite as happy with Logitech's quality or price these days, but I still needed this mouse. While this mouse is functional and ergonomically pleasing for me, it wears rapidly. The momentary contact switches used in this mouse begin to malfunction within one year. I usually keep the good switches from older mice and use them to refurbish this one so I don't have to shell out another $30 each year. Also, the blue ball and the contact points that it rolls on eventually begin to wear to the point the mouse movement becomes problematic. There's no fix for that except purchasing a new one, unfortunately. My guess is Logitech has these manufactured in China and shipped to the U.S. for a cost of about $2.00 each. Charging nearly $30 for it retail is hardly what I'd consider "honest profit." Myeh... it is what it is, though. This may be my last one of these, though. I'm going to have to get used to a regular mouse again. I have a box full of them out in my shop. The price is right.Read full review

Pros: Easy to use, Trackball moves smoothly, Wireless, Space Saving Cons: Strain on the thumb joint Logitech is the only brand I will buy anymore for a computer mouse because they are always a good value and quality, and this mouse is no exception. This style takes a little getting used to if you have been using a regular mouse, but once you get the hang of it, it's very easy to use. Having limited desk space, I also like this mouse because it can stay in one place and doesn't need to be moved around, and it's wireless. Battery consumption is not high, one fresh battery lasts quite a while. The only complaint I really have is this: While a trackball mouse works very well to relieve strain on the wrist, extended use does cause some discomfort in the thumb joint. After working on the computer for around 5 hours, I started to notice some soreness. Light computer use doesn't have the same effect, just prolonged use.Read full review

I have several of this type mouse control and find them easy to operate and no moving and readjusting on the desk top. The ball has to be removed once in a while if the area is dusty to clean the sensor otherwise it works just fine. The battery seems to last for months, can not fine any fault with it. Some people have a problem using this type of mouse but it seems its due a smaller hand or using the thumb a lot tires their hand, I like it and will not go back to a corded mouse.

I was introduced to the Logitech trackball around the turn of the century. Then it was called the big red marble, I guess because when you first saw it there was this big red marble encased in a lite tan housing. they have sense changed to the blue ball and changed the ergonomics, which is not to my liking,, but nothing stands in the way of progress...I dislike a mouse for several reasons.. you are always running off the pad, or bumping into something. this device takes all that away. 1st. you don't have to move this trackball ever. 2nd. you use the blue marble with your thumb which takes the place of moving the cursor. you have the same two buttons to select or open a program 3rd you have a scroll wheel in the middle. 4. it has a forward or back or back button on the right side to ease you browser surfing. .. I hope this helps someone. I look on this device just like my guns. some can have it after they pry it from my cold dead handsRead full review

I love this mouse. I work on the computer for hours every day, and I cannot live without this thing. The wireless feature is great - I've even given presentations while standing up and holding the mouse against my leg, a good 20 feet from the computer. It is very comfortable for my hand and arm. The ball takes a little time to get used to, but it very soon becomes automatic. The wheel works great and extra buttons are nice as well. The only con is that the main click buttons eventually wear out and don't respond as well, sometimes double-clicking when you don't mean to. But it's worth it to buy another one.

I have never been a fan of the track ball type mouses (mice?). But, I purchase this one exclusively for the PC that I have connected to our television. I was thinking that a mouse that could remain stationary to operate would work better when using your computer from the couch. It is very well designed and very comfortable to use. I was amazed on how quickly I became proficient with this item. I do not see myself replacing my other 'conventional' mouses with this item. I still prefer to use the normal mouse style when using any other computers at a desk. I also believe that this would be a great item for people that have limited mobility with their hands. To sum this up, I am very happy with this item.

This is as good as a trackball gets at this point in time. The only other I've used that was close was an old Microsoft unit that was also as perfect as they got for that time. Love that it's wireless as I tend to move it around the desk as if it were attached to my palm. Well adjustable for the common mouse features. I use the forward and back buttons near constantly. It's a great UI for a PC. I love these things so much I've got 4 of them deployed on 3 desktops, one laptop and 1 new one in my toybox just in case...

HERE IS THE UPSIDE... I don't know why everyone doesn't get rid of their mouse and start using a trackball such as this one. Once you get use to using it you will never want a mouse again. You don't need a mouse pad and you don't need a lot of space on the desk to use this device. HERE IS THE DOWNSIDE... These just don't last very long before they begin to fail. I just purchased this trackball to replace a trackball I bought in October 2014 only one year and four months ago. I purchased that track ball to replace another failed track ball I bought about a year and a half before that. I use my computer almost everyday for from 10 minutes to 3 hours. It seems like this device should be lasting a few more years and I would have to wonder how many months this device would last in an office environment where it was being used for 8 hours a day. That is my only complaint about this otherwise smooth operating device. It may be that my method of cleaning, (Q-tip and alcohol) is causing premature wear.Read full review

I purchased this mouse to offer a change up from a conventional mouse. I have some wrist pain from time to time, and my wife has had recent shoulder surgery making arm movement painful. My view is this mouse could be a little better with a larger ball, but that is personal preference. Also the ball was stiff with initial use. But it quickly broke in and became very smooth. I would recommend giving any new trackball some time to smooth up before making any judgment. It also takes some time to get used to a trackball over a conventional mouse. This mouse does require dexterous use of the right thumb. It is not for lefties, nor for anyone with issues with the right thumb. This mouse has good battery life, and it has an easy to use on/off switch to conserve the battery. I appreciate there is a dongle storage cavity inside the battery compartment. The small dongle is a must have in my view allowing it to be left plugged in to laptops. The dongle can also be paired with other Logitech devices such as a wireless keyboard. I have gone wireless with all my keyboards and mice and will not be going back for laptops or desktops. Other than my preference for a larger ball, and that is a small preference, I recommend this mouse.Read full review
