    Good value

Good ukulele for the money. Its a pain to tune at first, but that is to be expected. Sounds and plays very well, definitely worth the money. I can't give it 5 stars due to minor fit and finish flaws (which doesn't bother me, but I'm trying to give an honest review). The tuning pegs are also a bit finicky. Overall I'm satisfied as it has a full very pleasant sound!

  • Top critical review

    Fretting over frets.

The build on the body and head of this ukulele is well executed. There were a few finish issues, particularly where back and sides are joined. The action is set up spot on right out of the box. The volume and sustain on this instrument are both better than expected. The biggest issue concerns the fret board and fret finish. These fret wires were cut and left very sharp at both edges, enough so to make it painful to slide along the fret board. It took a bit of work to file and sand these to make them acceptable. If you don't have the tools and/or knowledge to correct this, you would need to take it to a music shop for correction. For the price point I would recommend this instrument.

  • Good cheap fun.

Fret ends were sharp. A bit of work with a file and all was well. The bridge and nut are cut to the right depth so the setup on mine was good. This was the least expensive way to get into a eight string. I love the sound but wouldn’t get this as a first uke. It’s a basic plywood uke with eight strings. Just made for strumming. Sounds good and fun to play. A good inexpensive addition to your uke collection. Be prepared to do a bit of setup work and to send it back if you get a dud.

  • Good value

The quality is very good for the price. It doesn’t come with a bag. It does not fit in a standard tenor sized bag. I discovered it fits in my mandolin bag very nicely. I didn’t want electronics anyway. I can install my own strap button. It arrived well protected in two boxes.

  • Great ukulele, sweet tone, well made.

This is a well made instrument with very sweet tone. The initial tuning takes some time and it takes a few tunings for the strings to stretch and hold their tune but it is so worth the initial effort. The action is very playable. Whether playing alone or with a group the tones and harmonies added are very pleasent. I bought one for my adult son and after tuning it the day it arrived I ordered a second on for my wife. Gave them as Christmas gifts tuesday, and they played them until their fingers were couldn't play any more. The ukulele comes with a life time warrantee. I found this online and watch a couple videos, decided to give it a try, the videos do not do justice to the sound, it is such a sweet mellow tone.

  • Love the Oscar Schmidt 8 string uke

I would have given 5 stars if it were not for the sharp frets. The sound of the 8 string uke is very nice....very nice indeed. I haven’t compared it to other brands which are more expensive, but then why should I when I am perfectly satisfied with my Oscar Schmidt.

  • Amazing new sound experience!

If you're looking for a new ukulele sound, check out this one! It's like a 12-string guitar: twice the volume, two separate octaves at once, and a beautiful tone all around!
