Does a good job
This trimmer has a lot of power and feeds the line out easily. This has a nice long handle that keeps me a little further from the actual cutting than my last trimmer. A beast!
This trimmer is a beast - a blunt weapon. It is also quite heavy. I would imagine it works well clearing large areas quickly but if you need any type of precision trimming, this is not the tool. It is difficult to to control the cutting path, and determine where the string is most effective. As an edge trimmer, almost not usable. My old Toro 12" trimmer was much better suited for a small yard which requires light trimming and lots of edging.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great StringTrimmer
I have had this Ryobi electric string trimmer model in the passed and bought this as a replacement unit for one that finally did not work anymore. To me it almost is as powerful than a gas model and have used this corded model since it was sold as Sears Craftman in the nineties, They later branded it as their own Ryobi model. If you don't mind connecting it with a 50 foot or 100 foot electric cord It is a great machine. It is also a Expanded model where you can attach different attachments like a hedge trimmer,a straight shaft or curbed shaft and others. I like a this corded string trimmer because I don't need to keep a gas can full of gas at my home, I can continually work without having to worry if my battery needs recharging, having to buy a extra very expensive battery, if need any one of the attachments made for it I can buy it and take off the shaft and attach something like a hedge trimmer, and finally it is a strong string trimmer and does great job and meets my needs.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Pro quality in an electric application??
I recently purchased this item on the recommendation of CR. It favorably compared this trimmer to gas powered models. I was surprised and shocked by that statement. As someone that exclusively uses electric power lawn care, and being more than dissatisfied with previous electric models, I took the leap. The pros: very powerful, easy feed and reload system and large cutting swath. The cons: very heavy and long. I ended up purchasing a support strap to help deal with the weight. It’s a Monster
Usually The cleaning I do with another machine takes me half an hour but with this machine it took me 10 minutes to do my hole back yard. I named him GODZILLA because it’s the monster of the weed wakers. Finally a machine that really works with no type of problems and super fast. I put my iPod music to start cleaning my patio and before the first song ended I had finished the job, no changing cables, no putting gasoline with mix, not tangling with the grass or ever bushes with stems as thick as my finger. Design Obsolescence - The manufacturer's Guarantee of Future Sales.
Overall this is an excellent tool. At 10 amps, it is much more powerful than the rather weak battery-powered 5 amp model. However, Ryobi / Homelite company will not support an after-market with replacement parts such as motor brushes, bearings and other parts. If your brushes wear out you have to buy a whole new motor at a price that is about double the price you paid for your original weed eater model. Also, the flex attachment cord is much too short and the boom attachments will not allow replacement of the flexible drive shaft. The manufacturer does not even offer a curved boom attachment for this model. I bought this unit solely to have replacement parts available in the future. This is another case where manufacturers support future sales of their much inferior battery products by obsoleting the really great models they know will last much longer. They would prefer you buy the battery-powered models because in just a few months they will be able to sell you a new battery - and the batteries are not cheap.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
