This is a compelling story not only about the Kakapo, but also the dedicated volunteers who are trying to save one of the world's most endangered parrots. The amount of time that volunteers spend trying to save this species is extraordinary and this book is great reading. I've seen the very rare (50 TOTAL) and endangered Orange Bellied Parrot locally on the Bellarine Peninsula (Geelong, Vic, Australia) and in the wilds of Tasmania and know that all efforts must be made to undo all the previous harms that befell this lovely and strange NZ parrot species. The extremely rare Australian Night Parrot (looks like a smaller version of the Kakapo) has been found to exist in secret locations and it is hoped that all efforts are also made to increase this species. Good luck to all the volunteers and the Kakapo. Cheers Tony JuffermansRead full review
