Hobby Boss model kits are challenging to the builders skillset, producing an accurate representation of this historic vehicle. If you are new to model building, you can find tutorials on Youtube to enhance your skills or just see how it all goes together. I enjoy the challenge, but it is also relaxing and learning about a new piece of equipment is enjoyable. The M4 High Speed Tractor by Hobby Boss is cast in styrene, it is very durable and very detailed, showing precisely why it was important to the Allies efforts during WWII. Join the hobby by building this model of an artillery tractor from the battlefields of Europe.

Great detail and true to the specifications of the original WW2 M4 Tractor. Unfortunately, the model is molded in a gray color requiring an entire repaint to the Olive Drab of the actual WWII vehicle.

Very nice kit, just wish it would have had all the parts that were suppose to be there. It was missing some photo etched parts, three pieces of rope in two different sizes, a length of chain, and some mask. But, I purchased as it was, the description said complete, but it wasn't. Must have been a spares kit in a model build, because of the missing parts, and I figure this because there was a complete set on Enduard PE instructions for the M4 High Speed Tractor. But being a model builder, improvise, adapt, and overcome. In the future I'll purchase the extra PE sets for this kit, and figure out the ropes and chain that I need to complete it.

I've built probably in the neighborhood of 100 kits over the years. LOTS of different makes. This was my first Hobby Boss, and I am amazed. The level of detail, coupled with well engineered assembly is absolutely remarkable. The detail in the engine, including complex compound bends in hoses and belts, along with how robust some of the more delicate parts are is truly amazing. Might just be this particular Hobby Boss kit, but I am anxious to find out.

Hobby Boss does a great job with this intermediate level kit. I've built a lot of kits for my son's Army train and this one has very nice detail. The photo etched parts are highly detailed and protected in plastic. The instructions are well done, including a color painting and decal layout sheet; there are a few minor mistakes including a few missing part labels. They only gave me a brief "what is that!" moment. The parts are clearly numbered and easy to locate on the sprue, unlikely some kits that make locating the parts like a scavenger hunt. There appear to be a few unused parts, but the directions are not clear. Fit and finish is fairly tight; I had a little problem with the cab/front bumper fit, but not a big deal. The rear stowage is a pain to assemble as designed. Why are there ammo racks in an enclosed box that doesn't open? Good question. There are some belts and hoses on the engine that you may want to place later on to make sure they tie in correctly. Lots of nice detail parts to upgrade the model (shovels, spare tracks, etc.). The photo etched parts are not that bad to work with. Make sure you have a good bender. A few options are included for the doors, on (open/closed) or off. It comes with paint masks for the windows, but you might as well throw them away, they don't fit. I haven't had to putty and sand anything, unlike some kits. I haven't put on the decals yet.... Make sure you wash this kit before you paint it. It has a ton of mold release agent on it. The photo shows a canvas cover on the rear deck. It is NOT included in the set, you will need to make one.Read full review
