Daiwa has really stepped it up a notch with their 300 Series Lexa reels. I picked one up used from a buddy, and liked it so much that I've been slowly replacing my 300 Series Curado's with Lexa's as they wear out. The reel is well built, its $100 cheaper than a Curado, and has a better drag. The Lexa is a great musky reel, and holds up well to everything those toothy beasts can give it. I've found that the 7 to 1 gear ratio is great for smaller bucktails, but I would recommend the 6.3 to 1 for size 9 blades or bigger, or for a general purpose reel. The one issue that I've had with it, and the one thing that stopped me from giving it five stars, is that occasionally when casting I think that I've depressed the thumb bar down all of the way to put the reel in free spool, but its not. When I cast the spool is still engaged, and it makes an awful racket, but doesn't seem to effect the reel. Other than that, you can't go wrong with this reel! Fred K. in UtahRead full review
