68-69 GT40 MkI LeMans Winner
Overall this is a very nice, relatively accurate curbside model of an iconic car. This particular kit comes with the narrow rear wheels/tires found on the 1968 winning car. If you want to do the 69 version I recommend an aftermarket resin set - Historic Racing Miniatures makes a nice set. If you’re a stickler for detail you might want to scratch build the door ledge/shelves on the insides of the doors that surround the windows, otherwise it looks the part of a Mk I GT40. It’s a simple, easy to build kit. The decals are nice but the orange color on my set don’t look quite right, they learn more toward an orange-brown color. I’ll be using an aftermarket set from Indycals, they’re awesome! The interior is quite nice even though little of it can be seen once the body is on the car. Clear parts are great, no fit or other problems with any of them. It doesn’t come with any photo-etch like the Fujimi Mk II’s do. Would have been nice to have some metal seatbelt buckles/parts come with it. It doesn’t have an engine, just the rear portion on the transaxle can be seen when the body is on it. The body is two pieces but mine will be glued together because there’s no point in keeping it separate if there’s no complete engine to see with the bonnet off or open, and the rear section isn’t hinged. The kit was poorly designed and not engineered well. There was no spare tire in the front and no engine in the rear. The pale blue plastic that the body was cast in could only be covered with a dark blue metallic paint.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
