Well made, economically priced means to remove embedded ticks and avoid Lymes Disease.
Excellent product - light to pack, cheap enough to keep one in every vehicle and day pack, and it does the job just fine. Few other tools or accessories do the job that these tweezers do. Don't venture into undergrowth without checking for ticks afterwards, including in your more intimate body areas - using a hand mirror as required. Fresh ticks are tiny, like black pin heads. Remove them by placing the tweezer jaws up against your skin, and pulling gently and steadily until the head pulls out of your skin. Then crush the tick on a hard surface. Never squeeze the body of the tick, or apply any lotion, or cigarette ends - any of these will cause the tick to regurgitate its gut contents into your body- which is exactly what you are trying to avoid. It's the gut contents that can contain the harmful Lymes Disease bacterium. If worried, and especially if you get a circular red rash around the bite, or you soon after get flu symptoms, go see your GP/MD and request a Lymes Disease blood test. Excellent for splinter removal!
Ticks? Hah. This is for serious splinter removal. The sharp points are perfect for excising small shards of metal or wood from your hands. I have 4 of these. I'm a fabricator. These are the best tweezers for taking out splinters that I have ever seen. They are so sharp you can go in after the offending skelf and cut it out.
