Philips Dreamwear Nasal Mask
Although I am fairly new to CPAP machines I have been very happy with the results after 3 months. I started out with the Fisher Paykel nasal mask which does a great job and works well. Other friends using pillow masks suggested trying the less obtrusive type masks. Whilst researching the units available I cam across the new Philips Dreamwear Mask and liked the idea of the top hose connection thus giving better location of the sleeping position. I decided to try this unit and although I have only been using it for around 2 weeks I am completely happy with its operation. Unique development for the CPAP market.
Philips and Resmed are the dominant players in the CPAP market. But the machines themselves aren't exactly ground breaking. They blow air, with some control over pressure delivered and have developed some smarts over the years, but there has not been a whole lot that you could consider revolutionary. The Dreamwear CPAP nasal masks are the polar opposite. Absolutely amazing. Having serviced hundreds of ventilators and CPAP/BIPAP machines, one thing that always put me off getting CPAP for myself were the masks. Big & ugly with a hose out the front to get in your way while you sleep. But if you can cope with a nasal mask, this is brilliant. The hose is at the top of your head, doesn't get in the way and you can virtually sleep in whatever position you are comfortable with. Phillips Respironics Cpap Mask
This mask is so easy to wear. It isn't as bulky and uncomfortable as a full face mask. It's slimline and easy to watch tv and reading it is very light to wear also. I thoroughly enjoy wearing this mask to my other nasal masks including the nose pronges mask I have also. comfortable and easy to use
I have been using a full face mask and found it very uncomfortable, since buying the dreamwear mask i have been having good nights sleep and also my AHI has been much lower for some reason. I am not a 100% mouth breather but i believe you can train yourself to breath through your nose enough to make this mask work well for you. Most comfortable mask I've tried
I have tried several masks and this one is the absolute best. I can sleep on my side with ease. It is extremely comfortable. It comes with options for different size noses and soft wrap around covers for the area of tubing that sits against the face. The only marks it leaves on my face are just under the septum area of my nose and they disappear quickly. The only thing that could improve it would be the ability to change the position of the straps on the headgear to accommodate different shaped heads, but that is a preference thing. Good value for money
Looking at prices on other websites, this one was at least $100.00 cheaper. Philips has them @ $285.00. When you first start using the mask it will iritate the underside of your nose between the nostrils.
