The knife takes a little getting used to if you primarily work with European-style kitchen knives. Once you get used to the feel you'll find it's a little more versatile than a traditional chef's knife. I wouldn't trade my good santuko for this knife, but it's a welcome addition to my regularly-used kitchen knives. Be aware this is not a traditional butcher's cleaver - it really isn't meant for chopping frozen meat, bones, etc. I bought this knife based on a recommendation by Kenji Lopez-Alt.
