I purchased this book on the strength of having completed the online survey. I had hoped for more detailed explanations of the different love languages and how to use them, but was surprised and disappointed at the tone of the book. It is written by a devout Christian who not so subtly suggests all relevant relationships are hetero in nature, of which the sole purpose is to lead to marriage. Dubious statistics are presented to deride single parent families and de facto relationships. The concept of same sex relationships is not even covered, presumably these are not considered true or appropriate relationships. Most examples given are of people who either met at church or as part of a church related activity - hardly typical of modern western society. Although the overall concept of the 5 love languages is sound, I found this book biased towards a particular Christian morality and therefore not inclusive of the majority of society. If I had of known this beforehand I would not have purchased it.Read full review
