The base is great. Strong magnet, multi position. The gauge is terrible. Not at all accurate and very hard to calibrate. Treat the purchase as vase only with free dial gauge to use as a basic idea of if you’re in any sort of accuracy range- though you won’t know what that range is. This is a great kit! I bought 2 of these kits and was pleasantly surprised. They are better than you I expected based on the price. I actually already had other dial gauges so only really bought them for the bases. The gauges were a bonus for me. I tried the Dial gauges and they work just fine. As accurate as my Japanese made items. (like most Chinese tools they just needed a little lubrication prior to use) Magnetic bases just needed a bit of Loctite on the threads and lube at the joints but worked fine.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Money saver on a budget.
It works adequately well which means exceptionally well for a product 1/3 of the price of better quality units. Perfect for occasional use on a hobby or at home. Professionals would want slightly better accuracy when big bucks are on the line and can claim the tax deduction.
