Both are second-hand,fully tested, working, and updated to the latest firmware. Ideal for advanced outdoor surveillance with zoom and PoE passthrough. 1x NanoSwitch (N-SW) : Outdoor 4-port Gigabit PoE passthrough switch.
Part of the Ubiquity Unfi range, the UVC-G3-Pro camera is an excellent camera for security applications indoor and outdoor.
The camera features 2K resolution at 30fps, IP67 rating making it safe for outdoor weather, and is powered by the industry standard 802.3at 48V standard (which means you can use any PoE switch or injector you want - does not have to be an Ubiquity Unifi product to power it).
The camera is operated using the freely downloadable Unifi Video software and is independent of the Unifi Controller software (you don't need a Controller to run the camera, but it will mix in with an existing Unifi Controller infrastructure very nicely). The Unifi Video software will control all aspects of the camera including firmware updates and provides free Cloud remote access via Ubiquity's video website.
The quality of the camera is exceptional. Sturdy construction, pleasant aesthetics with the white paintwork (though it would be nice to have a black option), and there's a reasonable amount of weight in the front with the glass and metal construction.
The back of the unit is the positioning arm and simply unscrews off the camera. A tool is provided to allow you to screw the arm on tightly so the average person cannot just undo it with their hands to get access to the Ethernet cable.
The Ethernet cable itself is easily threaded through the arm's centre and a rubber grommet that provides the protection against rain ingress.
Image quality provided by the camera is exceptional. Thanks to the Sony sensor, the night performance even with the IR LED's turned off is very good. Turn on the IR LED's and you can see a very long way, easily covering the the area of a typical large front or back yard.
Image resolution is crisp and at 30fps, recorded images are smooth.
The camera also features 3x optical zoom, allowing you to adjust what your camera looks at, eg: a specific zone that is on the opposite end of a parking lot, etc. 3x doesn't sound like much, but in practice it gives you a lot of scope to position cameras at safe distance. Focus goes out whilst zooming, but then quickly re-adjusts itself. There is also an ability to SSH into the camera to correct any soft focus issues with a single command to calibrate, but you should only need to do this once if necessary.
Whilst you cannot adjust optical zoom in a recording, the Unifi Video software does digital zooming quite nicely without severe pixelisation.
The other cool feature of these cameras is that they also record audio!
Note that this camera is PoE only and the package does not come with a PoE injector. It is assumed you will be connecting this to an 802.3at or 802.3af compliant PoE switch.
Overall, this is an excellent camera and whilst it's not 4K, it's sharp enough for most security applications. Highly recommended.
