This thing works great... Precise camera movements and when combined with a leveling head it's Sooo much better than a ball head with a heavy camera
This thing works great... Precise camera movements and when combined with a leveling head it's Sooo much better than a ball head with a heavy camera (RB67 or View Camera). Set up the tripod, level with leveling head and dial in the composition with these precise (and smooth) gears on the head. Sweet !!!

ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, A GREAT PURCHASE
There are many choices for devices like this costing anywhere from just over $3000 (tax included) on down to this little gem at just over $200 with tax. No doubt the $3000 model functions smoother although it would be hard to imagine a smoother functioning model than this. And no doubt the higher priced ones have greater movement will handle heavier loads and in daily use last a lot longer. But if you don’t have use for a heavy monster every day all day then this might be a more rational choice. I use mine for panoramic photography and it works great for that. And it has a solid feel that makes me think it will outlast me. So I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who would like to have the capabilities it provides without breaking the bank.

Very easy to level a camera, if the tripod is levelled and the knobs are exactly in the middle, within their indent stops, camera is levelled as well. Very solid head. I use it on built in 1/2 ball 65mm diameter tripod.

Nice Toy.
If you really need some correct camera leveling, this thing is really cool. But that is what it is for. I.E. landscape work or architectural shots. Such as panoramics. Or any shots that need to be stitched together.
