  • Classy fast, reliable, innovative technology - with some (minor) quibbles

Great tech. This machine is VERY fast. Even completely stock, off-the-shelf, Apple's innovative M1 chip copes effortlessly with quite heavy-duty CPU-intensive tasks, and the latest Big Sur OS is super-stable. Screen is beautiful to behold and doesn't induce fatigue or eye-strain. Audio quality from enhanced onboard speakers is surprisingly good. Apple have redeemed themselves with the re-designed keyboard which feels great and is a huge improvement on the trouble-plagued stinkers of recent years. Only slight disappointment is the camera - average at only 720p. It's certainly not horrible, but for this time and at this price point Apple needs to step up. Also, only having 256GB SSD as standard for storage is ridiculously stingy in these days of ever-increasing file sizes. Especially when the OS occupies a pretty hefty chunk of it right off the bat. But don't get me wrong, as someone who's been flying Macs for nearly 30 years, overall I love this machine and look forward to enjoying it for many years, like ALL my previous ones - several of which are still providing reliable service to this day.
