The Orbi is a great wifi system. Very easy to setup and use with Orbi app. I have a larger house with lots of walls and my old wifi router could not send a strong signal to all areas. Now I have the Orbi wifi I get full signal and fast internet throughout my home. The Orbi App is great to as allows you to control so much about the router, can see all devices connected, data usage, connection speed, parental controls and wifi settings. Awesome product and no worries recommending to people.

I had high hopes for this product but I'm very disappointed. The reason is that there is NO WAY to disable the 2.4GHz wifi from being activated, so because both 2.4GHz & 5GHz bands are used at the same time, as soon as my devices are a little far away from the Netgear Orbi (either main router or the Satellite) the connection always default to the slower 2.4GHz connection even though the 5GHz connection still has a mid strength signal. For a normal Wifi Router this will be fine because the 2.4GHz can be set to a different SSID name to the 5GHz SSID name but with the Netgear Orbi there is no way you can have a different SSID name between the 2.4GHz & the 5GHz. And with the latest Orbi Firmware updates, there is no way to disable the 2.4GHz completely so this means your devices will also choose a stronger signal 2.4GHz connect rather than using a mid strength 5GHz connection even though the 5GHz mid strength connection is much faster than a Strong 2.4GHz connection. This is just BAD firmware upgrade design and I hope Netgear changes this for the Orbi, otherwise my 3 year old Netgear Nighthawk X4 AC2200 is much better.Read full review

I needed to replace my existing mediocre router. After some further research into wifi routers, I narrowed down to 2 and chose this ORBI RBK50 system over the Google Nest Wifi as it had many more ports for wired connection on both main and satellite. Preferred mesh routers over the more expensive traditional routers as I have dead spots in a few of the rooms around the house. I am not a gamer, so I do not need the expensive Asus or Nighthawk routers. The Wifi6 routers was simply out of my budget and was not worth it as my network here is also nowhere ready. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend activating on the ORBI is the Armor Bitdefender security system as it kept disconnecting the ORBI from the internet. I’m using this in Australia. Speed on my 100Mbps NBN Aussie Broadband plan, is 94.64Mbps Download, 36.62 Upload. One of my 3yr old IPCAM can’t be properly installed wirelessly. The Disney Circle feature is okay, have not really tested to its full potential. I am not in IT, but overall the setup required some patience but was not too difficult, done by myself, followed their box instruction, just took me an hour or two to get everything downloaded and connected. Have not called the Netgear support so far. There are plenty of advice on YouTube and I simply just searched for answers on the internet. Otherwise, everything else is working well so far and stable. I have around 10-12 devices from Sony TV, Arlo, Genio, Echo, Xbox, Laptops, IPads and iPhones. No regrets to purchase this. Thanks Computer Alliance for the great discount and fast delivery from eBay Plus! I needed it!Read full review

Covers the whole house with great wifi speeds when connected to 5ghz channel (80mbps++ downs for a 100mbps speeds). 2.4ghz channel drops to around 50mbps++. The firmware it came with was broken and would keep dropping the internet. Using the app to setup was straight forward until the internet would drop. Could not proceed with app once internet was dropped. Had to use a desktop connection to login and update firmware. Once updated to latest firmware, the orbi has been running without a problem. Will keep monitoring. 'Mesh' network is quite seamless. There are some (quite rare) disconnect/reconnecting when moving between orbis which is resolved automatically within 30sec to a min. Overall, only gripe will be with the automatic 2.4fhz or 5ghz selection, would prefer a manual selection choice for which device connects to which band. Other then that the orbi has been a great improvement to the house wifi coverage and speed. No more blackspots or slow wifi throughout the house. Cons- -setup may cause problems (update to latest firmware when possible) -automatic 2.4ghz/5ghz selection (a manual selection mode would be nice) -2.4ghz band is noticeably slower than 5ghz band -slightly higher priced (try to buy when sales or discounts are on) -each unit is quite tall, do check the dimensions Pros- -wifi speeds are almost the same as wired connection (when on the correct band) -4 ethernet ports allowed for replacement of old routers and still have wired connections -'mesh' network does the jobRead full review

Solved all my wifi problems! After switching to NBN (FTTC), my Netgear ADSL n600 modem and range extender was no longer compatible (No WAN input) so i decided to spash out on the Orbi system. Whilst my old system gave me coverage throughout most of my house, the Orbi system blows it out of the park! It's given me a far stronger Wifi signal throughout my entire house (30sqrs) and has seamlessly integrated with other systems including with my Philips Hue lighting and Nest wireless camera systems. As far as speed goes, i'm consistently getting 46-47Mbps on my NBN50 plan with Optus. Couldn't be happier and highly recommend Orbi to anyone considering making the switch!
