The Pece track pins have a point at one end only. This is good when one presses the pins in by hand. The colour is good to camouflage them from the 'wooden' sleepers Of course if one uses the concrete sleeper track, then they need some paint. Check out the patent concrete sleeper track pin paint !

These pins are slim and push tracks tight to acoustic soft board (mounted on plywood) using a small dowel. Why anyone would glue or screw their layout to chipboard is beyond me.
