These are my favourite strings for my Ibanez semi. They are a "half-way house" between flat-wound and round-wound. They feel flat, so no finger noise, but still sound bright on the lower strings rather than dark like flat-wounds. They are stainless steel, but not silky to the touch like chromes or round-wounds, so the feel takes a little bit to get used to. But I love them for jazz or general pop/rock.

These strings have a very rough feel when out of the packet! I needed up polishing them with fine 800 grit sand paper, just running up and down the string a few times and it made a world of difference.. after which they are quite good.. somewhere in between flat wound and round wound.

D'Addario make great strings. I bought these to set up one of my guitars for open tuning and slide. I expected them to be smooth, flat wound jazz style strings but they are more like rock strings. They produce a little less squeal and are a bit more mellow but not enough to bother with. Because this is not a particularly popular string set I think they were close to the end of their shelf life.
