I am 72 years old and have always loved this movie. Great story and acting with no violence. We need more movies like it.

Pollyanna
Always remembered this movie from when it was first released. I was impressed by the actors and their parts, notably Karl Malden's and Agnes Moorhead's characters and their "conversions" to the "Glad" game. Pollyanna's influence on the various townsfolk is a joy to behold, and handled beautifully by the young Haley Mills. Many of the supporting cast seemed to have played similar parts in earlier Disney movies and were perfect as the townspeople. The movie may have seemed a little too "sweet" back in the sixties when first released.. But watching this movie again now, has made me realise how much many of us long for the days when children grew up as real children.. I cannot imagine this movie made today to cater to the modern version of "children", it would lack the "innocent kindness" (that we did expect) from back then, which is what made Pollyanna work so well.. Having seen this gem, one should follow up with Disney's "Parent Trap" the next Haley Mills movie. Read full review
