The perfect alternative across audio generations
This interface is exactly what I needed to continue using my somewhat old HD TV, which only had coaxial digital output, with my brand-new soundbar, which only came with optical input! I wasn't expecting it, but it even include a toslink (optical fibre) cable in the package, which I'll keep as spare. Its construction feels solid and looks professional. Worked well for a couple of days
It was simple to install and worked well, but after a couple of days it just stopped working. The power light is on but the toslink output is constant regardless of input, and no audio is delivered to the speaker. I replaced it with a HDMI to toslink converter using the same power source and tos cable and that one worked. I did try a replacement coax cable but that did not help. So I guess it's dead. Probably just bad luck and another unit may not have the same problem, but I have no way to know.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

As others have similarly reviewed, this device was purchased to perform LCD TV with only Coax audio output to a new Soundbar with only Optical audio in. Device is priced well. Great build quality. Works like a champ!
I have a TCL TV connected to my audio interface via the converter. Optical out from the TV to the SPDIF on the audio interface (a digital coax input). It was a breeze to set up and works flawlessly - so much so that I haven't thought about it at all since setting it up. It just works. The TV audio is routed to a set of Yamahs HS8 studio monitors. The set-up is really very good. Without this converter, I couldn't have it set up this way as there is no optical input on my audio interface. I recommend the product - it's cheap and effective.
