    Neil Simon's Murder by Death has almost more jokes than Airplane!

    if you like spoofs, this one's for you. If you like parody and puns, this one's for you. If you like the old fashioned detectives from the 20s 30s and 40s, you'll love this one. The puns are both delicious and atrocious The only movie I only saw Truman Capote in. Peter Sellers Peter Falk and David Niven steal the show. Alec Guinness is a scream. The ending is so convoluted, you can't guess it, even after the last page. A real homage to the cheap detective dime store novels, and a great send up (hat tip?) to Agathe Christie herself.

    Uses God's name in vain twice, but very funny otherwise.

    I was terribly disappointed this had such unnecessary cursing in it. I have wateched it many times on tv, but the cursing had been left out. Other than that, there are many plot twists, and the movie is very funny and lighthearted with some fabulous actors. If cursing does not both you, this is a very well crafted murder mystery that keeps you guessing till the very end.

    Have Fun With Murder

    The plot involves the world's most famous detectives gathered in an isolated house to solve a murder. This is one of the funnies films I have ever seen. The acting is wonderful and the script by Neil Simon is hilarious. Anyone who likes mysteries and has a sense of humor will love watching this spoof. Peter Falk chews the scenery playing a takeoff of Humphrey Bogart's Sam Spade character. Among other detectives up for skewering are slightly re-named versions of Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot, The Thin Man and Charlie Chan. This is a send up of murder mysteries and is not intended to make perfect sense or to be taken seriously in any way. Have fun with it!

    Murder By Death

    Fantastic comedy by Neil Simon that uses comic characters Charlie Chan, Misses Marbles, a Sam Spade detective, a Thin Man couple, a French detective, and several other famous detectives travel to a mysterious mansion and are challenged by their host to solve a murder, his own. there are several comical events that challenge their skills as detectives such as poison drinks, seating arrangements, and dead bodies along with a room that,s there one minute and gone the next. It's hilarious in many situations and goes along like an old time murder mystery from the 1940's. An excellent choice for an entertaining two hours of television viewing and very much worth owning in ones movie library.

    Fun to watch......

    This was an enjoyable Neil Simon movie. Characters are based on international private eyes who are trying to solve mysteries or murders. The characters are based on such novel personalities with a humorous twist. Many stars and hilarious dialogue. A good "who done it movie."

    What part of spoof do you not understand?

    I have seen this movie in the past. I will tell you that you HAVE to be paying close attention to ALL of the background details to get the very subtle details. For example, what is on the sign at the hosts address? It is a spoof of many detective movies so you get what you paid for. PAY ATTENTION!!!
