The best King Crimson compilation begins with this set.
The beginning of a tour collection that spans 7 years and yes there's a double CD set like this for each year. These were originally only available for fans who went to the live concerts but eventually due to popular demand were released commercially. The only exception of course was the 2020 tour which never happened due to the Corona Virus pandemic. The sets feature a nice collection of bonus previously unreleased tracks. These are alternative versions parts of songs or trial recordings that were not originally for commercial release. Some of these are available in the amazing box sets that have been released over the last 8 years, however there are extras that were not included in some of the sets due to there fragmented nature. They make for excellent surprises while listening to not only a superb compilation but a compilation which features many incarnations of King Crimson. This set along with the 2015, 2016, 1017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 set will give a King Crimson fan not just a compilation of tracks they already own but bonus material previously never scheduled to see the light of day and fantastic live takes which you may be surprised to find you have never heard before. Highly recommended for the King Crimson fan and to conclude the booklets that come with the set are wonderful as there the tour program for that year as well. There was an extra booklet made available which was larger and slightly more expanded but this is the main core element(hence the title) you will enjoy and one more thing, they all feature great equipment lists to boot.
