Product Information
In the near future, the mining colony of Damethra has been threatened by an alien life form. This creature from outer space has come to us in the form of a car... a mutant car, to be precise, by the name of POD. What end this creature seeks is still a mystery, but one thing is for certain: the virus that it has brought with it is highly contagious.

This virus has spread throughout the colony, infecting other vehicles, turning them into shapely speed machines, armed to the teeth with all sorts of lethal weapons. So what, exactly, are the miners to do? Why, race them, of course, around the various hazardous tracks that have been carved out of Damethra by the miners themselves.

Such is the premise behind POD: Speedzone, sequel to the original PC game POD, for the Sega Dreamcast. This racer features six different tracks, each with multiple paths that are accessible to adept or lucky drivers. Each of these tracks is themed as if it were built into the surface of an asteroid, with plenty of caverns and lava. There is an assortment of cars to choose from, all designed to appear as if they have been swallowed by some mutant space virus from a distant world.

To separate itself from the original POD, the developers at Ubi Soft have incorporated a weapons system, bringing projectiles, mines, and speed-boosts into the game. Aside from the regular single and multiplayer games, POD: Speedzone is also ready for online play over Sega.net, where up to four racers from all over the world can meet up and race for the coveted first place finish.Product Identifiers
