A disturbing, yet only portrayal of the life and death of Emily Dickinson. Cynthia Nixon is intense and hands in a tremendously moving performance. The special featurettes on the DVD tell you so much about the movie's writers, producers, and actors. I wish there were other movies (perhaps a BBC?) about her life. A must see, but might not be a must-include in every library. I got it for mine! Not sorry!
The actors are first rate, the direction is superb -- subtle, brilliant -- the best rendition of the achievement of America's greatest 19th century poet ever.
