Shocking Blue were a Dutch rock band, founded in 1967 by guitarist Robbie van Leeuwen. After the charismatic Mariska Veres took over on vocals, the group charted a worldwide hit with the song 'Venus', which peaked at No.3 in the Netherlands in 1969.
