Lots of fun
This is one series that could easily be enjoyed by today's TV audiences - a great relief from the almost incessant crime and forensics series that dominate our screens, with it's amusing characters and scenarios, it's like Midsomer Murders without all the deaths, or All Ceatures Great and Small. The scenery in and around the Irish village of Avoca - re-named Ballykissangel for the series - is as beautiful as that of the Cotswolds (Midsomer) or the Yorkshire Dales (All Creatures Great and Small).
