More Durable, Less Functional
Giving this updated model a metal spout was a great move however its perforated design was not. The new spout shows no likelihood of damage like the old one but the water needs to travel through a watering can pattern to reach it which makes pouring slow and somewhat annoying. I cannot imagine the rationale for this choice other than perhaps some misguided attempt to make the kettle safer for children or old people or something along those lines. It's a shame because it ultimately makes the new Breville Smart Kettle worse than the model it replaces.

Works well, looks good, but beeps too much
It's bigger than I expected. It works really well, though. It beeps way too often--when you put the kettles on the stand, when you push a button, when it boils, when you take the kettle off the stand. I put a bit of tape over the holes for the beeper--this helps a bit. Beeping isn't overly loud, but still a bit annoying. Other than that the kettle looks good and works well.
