It was crushed by the Tsar's Cossacks with White Russian cavalry fighting on the Odessa Steppes. This is the most famous and most quoted film sequence in cinema history. This restoration replaces dozens of missing shots and includes all 146 title cards.
If you already know about this film, I won’t preach to the choir. If you have never heard of it, here’s your opportunity to see one of the greatest movies ever made. Even if you HAVE seen it, you probably didn’t see this beautifully restored print, which likely includes scenes you haven’t seen yet. A classic that bears repeated viewings.
Kino does it again. This version of Eisenstein's "Battleship Potemkin" is the best print I have ever seen of this important silent film. Its dynamics are visually sharp and clear and there are two sound tracks. One is the original music played for this silent film when it was first shown in 1925 and the second is by a modern composer. In either case this famous film looks great and and sounds great and deserves to be seen by anyone interested in the history of the movies.
