  • Does what it should very well, some VMWare ESXi compatibility challenges.

Works well in a VMWare ESXi server for local RAID storage, BUT... Even though it's in the supported hardware list, you have to go through a difficult process to install a version of the aacraid driver into ESXi to get it to work. The drivers included with ESXi (up to 6.7U3) do not recognize this card, and you can't install the package to a live machine. The only way I was able to do it was to download a new driver for ESXi 6.0 (this worked on 6.7U3, just make sure you have the correct one for your card's firmware revision) and inject it into an ESXi 6.7U3 install ISO image. Then I had to make a bootable USB out of that image, then I had to shut down the server, re-boot into the installer image, and go through the process to install the upgrade over the old image. It worked even though it was the same ESXi version. After that, the card was recognized and usable as normal. I was upgrading my RAID from a 5000-series controller, so I also had to re-add the datastores and re-signature them all, then re-add all of the VMs. A very lengthy process that required a lot of searching through different places for different tasks. That said: All the problems I had were VMWare related and due to the fact that I was upgrading in place. The card itself does what it should for a good value. If you were to start with a fresh install, just adding the driver to your ESXi install image would do the trick and this would work well for you.

  • Better than described

Pros: Easy to configure, easy to update bios, work with home pc, great performances, come with AFM-600CC unit instead of a battery which is way better! Cons: Do not support advanced format hard drive (4k sector size).

  • Great item

Used this to redo an array setup on my motherboard chipset that would not be seen when Win 10 booted up until either I restarted the PC or went into device manager and did a detect hardware change. The price for this controller is very reasonable and as it comes with the flash board and "battery" it keeps your data safe should a power outage occur. I needed the larger bracket as I was putting it into a desktop system and with this coming with both it was a no brainer!

  • Good, but not perfect

This is very, very expensive hardware. At a new price. How is it possible to release known software bugs? MaxView not delete passthrough disk. MaxView RAID 5 OCE not possible. (command line mode work) (it's not the seller's fault) But hardwere is OK Work my intel h87 motherboard. Windows 10 driver installed and work. Three 3TB HDD RAID 5 read / write 300MB / sec. OCE RAID 5 3 disk to 4 disk running 12 hour 12%

  • Is as advertised

Arrived with older firmware - using Adaptec's Storage Manager, updated to latest. So far all seems to be functioning as it should.

  • Good addition to systems

Adding RAID to system build means more money out, but also means system reliability and data protection is more properly covered.

  • Second time buy

How they sell it at such an aggressive price I don;t know but as far as I can tell this RAID card is genuine Adeptec hardware.
