The chronograph seems to get accurate readings. There’s no way to know for sure I think, but its readings line up well with other information. It has a rough way of attaching the steel rods to the main unit, but it works just fine. It comes with a bag to put the prices in which works well and is small. Gives m/s and ft/s info. For batteries, the unit takes one 9v and is plugged in roughly. It has a free hanging appendage inside the battery compartment that you plug the 9v into. I had to bend an end of that to fit Duracell 9 volts in there, but it worked. The unit also seems to overheat in direct sunlight, because after leaving it there in the sun, it would turn off and wouldn’t turn back on until I put it inside to cool down. otherwise, it works fine. This graph is for less serious people. For the price, it’s a good deal.Read full review

I wanted a cheap chronograph and that's what I got. Complete plastic construction but can attach to your phone and be used with a free download app. All is neat other then it only reads about 75% of the time. It's my only complaint, but a pretty strong complaint as I do alot of air gun shooting and testing.

I needed a chrono because I build custom air rifles and pistols. It's imperative to test each one and be able to back the weapon up with accurate data. Especially with the expense involved. The Caldwell performs flawlessly. Also being able to pair it with my iPad orviphone is fantastic. The unit I bought paid for itself basically the 1st time I used it to test a custom rifle I built for a gentleman in the UK. It comes with a nice case and the app is free from the Apple Store. The only complaint I have is not buying one sooner.

THIS IS MY FIRST CHRONO AND I CLOSED MY EYES AND WENT FOR IT! After spending a whole day reading reviews and watching videos of different units I bought this one. First time users of course have to experience the world of (exceptable) lighting conditions and all that comes with the dance of maintaining the right kind and amount of light above the 2 sensors so that the unit works and is accurate. As far as reviews go, check out the reviews for the higher priced units and yes you will find the same complaints regardless of price. My strategy/approach was to buy the cheapest unit I could find that had enough good reviews to indicate that the unit could work well enough to get the job done. Many people gave this basic chronograph good reviews and like the better units some complained of getting a lemon. After playing with this chrono for just a few hours ( and doing the research) I am comfortable in knowing what to look for in a chrono I believe. Fortunately this (my first ever) unit seems to work perfectly out of the box and with all types of projectiles both fast and slow. For example i have a spring loaded BB pistol that shoots at 100 FPS and have shot hand loaded bullets at over 3700 FPS with consistence accurate readings. The phone/tablet app loaded fast and worked as described (except the app will not allow for deletion of error shots without saving then editing) This unit is basic in that it will only give a readout of the speed and do no calculations UNLESS it is paired with a android/apple phone or tablet and a external source application for various computations. This I like because my eyesight is poor and I would rather have my data displayed remotely next to me. Plus I can customize my remote display device and type. The unit is well built well and is sturdy and the readout is large enough and instant. Basically just 3 functions on one switch which are OFF- feet per second- meters per second. Other than that their are 2 ports for data connection to a external device which are a usb type port and a ear phone type plug. This unit takes a 9 volt battery and the battery compartment is big enough to hold a spare battery. This unit does have a camera mount type thread receiver on the bottom for using on a tripod or other type holding set up. I feel fortunate that I bought a unit that works as advertised,of good quality, and really cheap ($69.00) Not sure if I will ever need anything more but I can understand the value and preference of having a unit that does the string calculations WITHOUT having to utilize external devices and cables so this model may not be what some need or want, especially when you can get such features for for just a few dollars more.Read full review

I have shot both rifle and pistol ammo through it as well as hunting arrows,,,,the chrony works well but because arrows bend or flex as they leave the bow, sometimes one of the electric eyes will miss it resulting in ERROR on the read out screen,,,this is not the fault of the unit but because the arrow doesnt fly straight and therefor may not pass evenly over both electronic eyes,,,,the chronograph is OK for the money and comes in a nice cloth storage bag,,,I would recommend it as a basic unit without the frills of a more expensive model

This chronograph is light weight so it can be mounted on almost any tripod. I use mine on a video camera tripod. Since I very seldom change powder or bullets, I was looking for something inexpensive this was exactly what I wanted. Easy to set up, compact, and easy to use. A good value.

It kept reading error until i rigged up some led lights on it now it reads every time ..you do have to set it about 10 yards away for the big magnum cartridges tho 😆 because the muzzle blast was almost knocking it off the tripods at 10 feet it would read error .but for under 100 bucks it works good enough for me .on a bright sunny day you don't need the lights but i shoot in the evening close to sunset when its cooler or early morning and i had to add some leds to get it to read

I have read others' reviews that say that it's difficult to set up a connection to a cell phone. This is partially true because it goes against logic. DO NOT try to connect the chronograph via bluetooth; it won't work. After downloading the app to your phone -- I have a Samsung -- simply connect the chronograph via the furnished wire to the phone and enable -> everything <- in the app's settings. Once you're connected the chronograph performs perfectly and gives you an excellent report of your shooting session. It's a great tool to learn about your guns and your ability to shoot them.

If you just need a chroni, this is it. Simple to use with the addition of one 9 volt battery and a tripod . Setting it up may require a little patience to get shot to target alignment. I do have some shots that don't register for some reason.
