This DVD features the 1945 war drama film "Back to Bataan" directed by Edward Dmytryk and produced by Robert M. Fellows. The movie stars Robert Mitchum as a U.S. Army sergeant who is captured during World War II and sent to a Japanese prison camp.
Being a big John Wayne fan, and not having seen this movie, or hearing much about it, I purchased it for a good price, cuz ya can't go wrong with John Wayne. Well, on this one ya can. Very slow, leaning towards boring ...... more of a movie with John Wayne in it, than a John Wayne Movie. Not as bad as The Conquer, but, well, I didn't keep it after viewing it once. It doesn't come close to his other war movies - unless you just gotta have all his movies, I wouldn;t bother with it.
Features 2 great actors: John Wayne and Anthony Quiinn, and introducing teen Chinese-American actor Ducky Louie. Many Baby Boomer boys who were watching B&W TV during the 50s and 60s would remember this flick.
My favorite "Japanese" villains were Richard Loo and Philip Ahn. A great anti-Japanese propaganda film at its best.
