Product Information

Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are reunited in this hysterically funny high seas romantic adventure. Gambler and con artist Charlie (Walter Matthau) is desperate to meet single, rich ladies with large bank accounts. When he persuades his lonely widower brother-in-law, Herb (Jack Lemmon), into accompanying him on a pleasure cruise, he neglects to mention that they will be working as dance hosts and masquerading as wealthy bachelors. Much to Herb's chagrin, their accommodations are in the bowels of the high-class ship, and they are forced to work for hilariously tyrannical cruise director Gil Godwyn (Brent Spiner). Herb dutifully dances his way into the heart of a lonely widower, Vivian (Gloria De Haven), pretending he is a doctor while Charlie cons high-stakes gamblers and sets his sights on a much younger oil tycoon, Liz (Dyan Cannon). As Charlie and Herb struggle to keep their real identities a secret, their romances blossom until the truth is revealed and they must act fast to save their newly discovered loves.

    Ever since the original pairing of these two actors, they have put out a string of hilarious films! Out to Sea is no different and does not disappoint! It's high comedy, adventure and hijinks on the high seas with an all-star cast that includes Elaine Stritch, Dyan Cannon, Donald O'Connor and more!!

    Great movie bad picture

    This movie is so funny. I enjoy the work of Jack Lemon and Walter Mathual. Unfortunately, the picture quality is really bad! I feel it was way over priced for what it is. It was marked on the box $1.25 but I payed well over $20s for it. I got kinda rooked on this purchase. It is a great movie but the picture is like poop.

    This movie is so true to life!!! I was a Dance Host back in the mid 1990s on the MV Regent Sun. I was more the Walter Mattheu type, but had the time of my life!!! Saw the movie in the theatre when it first came out, later bought the DVD and bought the DVD several more times to send to freinds and family... Lost track of how many times I have enjoyed the DVD over and over again!!!

    Out to Sea is out-of-sight paradoy of all dance hosts you'll ever see on a cruise. One was even Donald O'Connor. Great moments!

    Jack Lemmon's character is widowed but Matthau's character has a plan to revive his friend by hauling him onto a cruise ship to schmooze with wealthy women. There are so many parallels to the comedy duo of The Odd Couple that made them famous. I recommend it for an ending that's not quite predctable.
