Positives: Well made - very good sound - good battery life - doesn't get hot - lots of sound adjustments to play with - with high gain the volume is perfectly adequate 90% of the time - but a little short for the 10% of times you want to blow your brains out. This thing sounds incredible. Ease of use. Battery is a step up from Sony's 500 series, but high res tracks devour juice-- no getting around it. This Japanese version has no pesty volume lock so it can drive high reasonably high impedence headphones. This is my first portable DAC purchase, so I haven't been able to compare it to other products. I believe this little thing does what it says on the packet. I'm not sure if it actually enhances the sound by a lot but it sure does amplify it....more testing & eventually comparisons to follow but for now I'm really happy with it. It even comes with both OTG cables but I wish the instructions were in English. Still, I managed to work it out. Great price, so I actually ordered 2.
