It's rare that movie music can stand on its own as a cohesive performance, but Silverado is one of those rare works. Much like Aaron Copland's 'Billy the Kid', there's a meaningful story that's being told. If you've seen the Director's Cut version of this great film, you'll know what I mean. Composer Bruce Broughton has been inspired by Copland, obviously, but also has original ideas in theme and scoring. If Broughton had been born in 1800, he would be renowned as a first-rate composer today.
The music for this movie has become iconic, in that it is used for many kinds of celebratory occasions. Sports, politics, awards, etc. Always love hearing the uplifting anthem used. Also, the movie was fabulous so you can relive your favorite scenes.
