Don't let the cover fool you, this is the original film by F.W. Murnau and not some cheesy remake. Nicely remastered, but still has the gritty look and flickering light quality of a vintage film. I chose this version since I am a fan of classic horror as well as Type O Negative's particular style of music. For me it was a nice two-in-one deal. If Type O isn't to your taste, however, a simple click of the mute button will fix that and you can enjoy this film in its original silent format. David Carradine's introduction gives a BRIEF, informative synopsis of the history behind and unique aspects of the film. There is another version out there which includes a soundtrack by various recording artists in the goth-industrial genre, but I have not viewed it and cannot offer any comparison. Nor can I offer comparison to the film reproduction quality of other versions. Even though some of the musical selections are personal favorites by Type O,I have to admit that the music didn't often suit the content of the screen and was very distracting at times. If this is your first viewing of this piece of cinematic history, I would have to recommend you watch it without the sound on in order to fully absorb the content as it was originally created. However, if you just want to kick back in the dark with a glass of red wine, a few candles and some suitably macabre visual accompaniment to your Type O Negative...by all means, crank it up and ENJOY!Read full review

Type O Negative provides the stygian soundtrack along with narration from actor David Carradine. This highly unique version of F.W. Murnau's German Expressionist classic, NOSFERATU. The prototypical vampire movie, the first adaptation of DRACULA, whose influence is impossible to overstate, is a masterwork of light and shadow, and one of the first films to truly horrify its audience. Along with the addition of Carradine's narration, the band Type O Negative add a modern element with their creepy and obtenebrated soundtrack.
The film is a classic. The soundtrack is phenomenal and it's one of my favorite films.
