    read the book

    this DVD came on time and was well packed. the movie has no flaws. based on Stephen King's book 'Salem's Lot. the movie quickly establishes the characters (not as well as the book). the movie sets up a scary atmosphere but no jump scares. the ending was less than satisfying. my advice? read the book!

    From The Mind Of One Of The Greatest Author's Ever.

    This is one of Stephen King's Movie adaptions they didn't screw up. It is scary for T.V. and the story line is excellent. I first watched it when I was 7 and believed it was terrifying. I still believe some of the scenes will make you jump. I just watched it last night and forgot about those creepy scenes. A great movie I recommend for everyone, especially horror fans.

    I love the original Salem's Lot made for TV movie! I remember watching this as a kid in 1979. David Soul and Lance Kerwin were the best!! Even though special effects have definitely improved since 1979, the suspense still caught me by surprise. It was awesome!! I watched it twice and now my sister has it. She was a huge David Soul fan.

    excellent vampire movie

    I originally saw this movie when I was around 6, but I still find it scary over 40 years later. the story line was great and the special fx for the time were pretty good. I'd recommended it to anyone who like a good vampire horror movie.

    Movie was excellent! Took me back to my childhood and when I first saw it.

    This is the greatest "Made For TV Movie" ever!

    It clocks in around 3 hours as it was originally a miniseries but it does not seem like it at all. It is a great film that builds the suspense and horror as it goes. Great characters, great make up and effects, and strong acting tie it all together. This is the best looking vampire effect in any film, EVER! This movie scared the crap out of me as a kid and I still love it to this day. If you scare easily, pass this one by BUT if you want a good scare...buy this movie, turn down the lights, pop the corn, pull up the blanket and get ready to have your lady strangle you in fear for the next three hours. A great movie that I highly recommend.
