Product Information

Director Ridley Scott's lush fantasy film stars the young Tom Cruise as Jack, a peasant who lives in an enchanted forest with his beloved Lili (Mia Sara). One day, while quietly gamboling in a glade, the pair is distracted by the appearance of trolls, minions of the evil Lord of Darkness (Tim Curry). The cloven-footed, cavern-dwelling monster, long banished to the earth's nether regions, has sent the creatures on a mission to seize the horn of a unicorn, thereby plunging the planet into a frigid darkness over which he alone will reign. Things go from bad to worse as Lili succumbs to the forces of darkness, and Jack must assemble a motley band of elves to free her from bondage and return sunlight to the earth's surface. Sumptous art direction and overwhelming special effects are once again a testament to Scott's powers of visual invention.

    Legend [Ultimate Edition]

    Director’s cut shows much more of the movie the American version cut out. Still an amazing movie that I love and seeing Tom Cruise so young still blows my mind to this day. Tim Curry is still one my favorite actors and his role as Darkness in this movie is perfect. Definitely worth seeing the Director’s Cut, helps the movie flow so much more.

    Director's Cut is Head & Shoulders above the US Theatrical version.

    The director's cut of Legend is head & shoulders above the US theatrical release. Nothing against Tangerine Dream (love them), their soundtrack is good, and fitting for the 1980s, but Jerry Goldsmith's score is timeless. I got this as a replacement as I loaned my original DVD from the early 2000s to a friend about a decade ago and it never got returned.

    Watch the European release version! You will love it!

    This release has the directors cut which was released in Europe. It is far superior to the American release in a hundred ways! If you like the American release, do yourself a favor and watch the directors cut...you will love it!

    Legend Movie with Tangerine Dream Soundtrack on 2nd Disc

    So happy to get this particular 2 disc version of Legend with the 2nd disc being the version with the Tangerine Dream soundtrack. The bonus material shows Ridley Scott and others saying they think the TD soundtrack (evidently done for the American audience) was a mistake, but I totally disagree. The TD soundtrack is what makes the movie scenes so ethereal and increases the fantasy aspect.

    The hunt was long, but worth it.

    This version of the DVD is what I have been looking for for a long time. It took me a good deal of research to pinpoint. There are several versions of this DVD, so make sure you are getting the one you want. There's even a newer version on Blu-Ray titled the same, but it is not the same.

    Great recording and movie.

    The recording seems better than the copy I already had. The snob crew ,critic's, didn't like the movie or Cruise in it, but I think the movie is Great. A good story, the acting is great for a story like this, and I'd like to see Mr. Darkness vs. Hellboy in a rumble.

    Greatest movie EVER!!!

    I first saw this movie as a child. I'm 40 now & stil love it as much or maybe more than i did when I was young. Ridley Scott truly brought a whole new world when he directed Legend. The world in which he takes you to in Legend is a world of beauty as well as a world of decay & darkness. I recommend this movie for both young & old. This is my favorite movie ever.
